Glaciation and the Creation of Connecticut's Lakes
In addition covering Connecticut with sediment and rocks glaciers carved out many lakes. Many glacial lakes formed from the glacier’s melt water. Lakes that are formed by glaciers are known as kettle lakes, we have many of these lakes in Connectcut. Lake Saltonstall in Branford, is an example of this. Also, the Easton Reservior is another example of a lake formed by a glacier.
